BMW showed the 5-series Hybrid at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, which had a 214HP gas engine paired with a 92HP electric engine. Recent spy shots suggest it is close to production. The hybrid, along with the new 5-Series range will have new front and rear fascia along with updated headlights. The C63 Black is already sold out, but there is a toned down version on the way. It will be called the AMG "Edition 507". The main changes occur under the bonnet (i refrain from using "hood" as bonnet is a more international term"), with the 6.2L V8 now making 507HP, thus the name, and 450 lb-ft of torque. The 507 is 6.6 pounds lighter than the Black and has a modified ECU. However, the Black is still more powerful by a whopping 3HP and 7 lb-ft of torque.
The 507 is RWD with a 7-speed automatic. Mercedes-Benz says that the 507 can go from 0-60MPH in 4.1 seconds. The 507 also includes updated brakes and 19-inch lightweight rims.
The Edition 507 will debut at this years Geneva Motor Show and will be at your local Mercedes-Benz dealership this summer. It should cost in the $70,000 US dollar area.
